Here we are, at the end of yet another year! How is this possible??!!
Rich, Greg and I would like to thank each of you for your amazing support of MaAfrika Tikkun Australia's events, programs and appeals in 2009. In what could only be considered a challenging economic time for not-for-profit organisations globally, we've reached December with huge gratitude. Gratitude for the continuity of support from those of you who have been on board with us for a while - and the faith that new supporters have placed in us to manage their donated funds effectively. A big welcome and thank you to Jake & Debbie Klein and Max & Debbie Klein.
Since our last newsletter, we've been focusing our energies on engaging restaurants, hotels, real estate agents (and anyone else who will listen!!!), in our Targeted Programs for 2010. Perhaps you can help us with this .... personal introductions allow us a foot in the door. The idea is that restaurants help us raise funds for our feeding programs, hotels and real estate business's help us with our shack building projects etc. We provide (sponsored) printed collateral to the business and provide them with all the necessary info and basic training required to motivate staff and clients. It's exciting because it becomes a collaborative effort and is not just dependant on the business owner writing a cheque .... everyone gets inspired and involved and feels grateful for the opportunity to give back effortlessly. Please let me know if you can offer us some intros!
We've also been promoting sales of the amazing book
"Children of South Africa" in the lead up to the World Cup 2010. This book

Our Rope for Hope Calendar 2010 has launched! Rich and Greg and the other Boys from the Rope have put a huge amount of physical effort into this project and it promises to not only benefit MaAfrika Tikkun's beneficiaries but inspire those of us thinking of ultimate fitness as a new years resolution! On December 12th Smokey Robinson is giving a concert in the Hunter Valley, NSW.
Thank you to the promoters for their recognition of MaAfrika Tikkun and The Samoa (Lalomanu) Tsunami Relief Fund - coming together in support of those in need. More on this in our next newsletter.
One of our major supporters - O'Brien Glass http://www.obrienglass.com.au/ is adding an exciting new concept to their Give Back Program next year. HR Manager Robert Wright is working with us tirelessly to bring this to fruition in addition to their already generous Salary Sacrificing Program and annual staff participation in the Sydney Running Festival. THANK YOU ROBERT! ... and all at O'Brien Glass.
In 2010 we're also planning an event to engage young people in the concept of philanthropy, a lunch or dinner with an engaging guest speaker to celebrate the 92nd birthday of our Chief Patron Nelson Mandela, another Sydney Running Festival .... and to keep putting one foot in front of the other in our quest to support our beneficiaries, one child at a time. Our events for 2010 will be up on the Events Page early next year.
For now though, we simply want to wish you a safe and healthy holiday and to thank you once again. As we always say.... we can't do what we do without YOU!
