Tribute to the co-founder of MaAfrika Tikkun: The late Chief Rabbi Cyril Harris

Our late co-founder, Chief Rabbi Cyril Harris, often urged his community to recognise the Jewish ideological vision of assistance to the disadvantaged and dispossessed by encouraging its members to contribute resources to social development. He described this as a challenge requiring moral and ethical solutions.

He wrote: “Faith in the essential unity of humankind as creatures of one God and as descendants of one common ancestor provides the foundation for the proper development of inter-community relationships. Recognising the moral imperatives governing human affairs, men and women of goodwill can face up to the challenge of our time and make the caring society a reality.”

This still remains the guiding principle of MaAfrika Tikkun.
