The commitment and dedication of Jack Tworetzsky founding father of MaAfrika Tikkun Western Cape were recognised at a cocktail party at which he was honoured. Attending the event were Jack’s family from overseas, his colleagues at
Mazars Moores Rowland, various Communal Leaders, donors and supporters
of MaAfrika Tikkun as well as the staff and executive committee members
of MaAfrika Tikkun.
Moonyeen Castle Chairman of MaAfrika Tikkun Western Cape, welcomed all and quoted Albert Einstein who said "Try not to become a man focused on success and wealth rather become a man of value". She said that Jack was not only a man of value but that he was a humble man and that he defined the word "mensch" for her.
Jack had the foresight to begin MaAfrika Tikkun in the Cape during his term of office as Chairman of the SAJBOD Cape Council. Over the years MaAfrika Tikkun has become a well structured productive organisation committed to transforming communities throughout The Western Cape.
Jack was also addressed by Ann Harris, wife of the late Chief Rabbi Cyril Harris who highlighted his Jack’s wonderful contribution to MaAfrika Tikkun and the Jewish community in general.
Special guest, Herby Rosenberg, long time colleague and friend of Jacks as well as the Executive Deputy Chairman of MaAfrika Tikkun also emphasised Jacks positive characteristics in an excellent, succinct speech delivered with warmth and sincerity
.
A special surprise was prepared for Jack by the MaAfrika Tikkun dance and drama group who entertained the guests with their passionate and energetic dancing concluding the proceedings with a song they had prepared especially in his honour.
As a gift to Jack, MaAfrika Tikkun Western Cape has initiated a bursary programme in his name awarding a beneficiary of the MaAfrika Tikkun with a bursary for their tertiary education. This would be available for three years 2009, 2010 and 2011 to the value of R10 000.00 per year.
